Marshmallow, affectionately known as Marshy, is a stunning 4 year old purebred red golden retriever with a heart just as sweet as his name. From the moment he arrived in foster care, he has charmed everyone he meets with his intelligence, gentle nature, and loving personality.
Marshy is the total package. He's smart, social, and always ready for fun. He quickly mastered the dog door, proving he's a clever boy, and loves spending his days playing with his foster brothers. Whether it's sharing his favorite stuffies and tennis balls, enjoying a friendly game of keep-away, or happily sharing treats and mealtime, Marshy has shown himself to be wonderfully easygoing and dog-friendly.
This handsome guy absolutely adores other dogs and thrives with canine companionship. He has especially bonded with his golden retriever foster brothers, so we think he'd be happiest in a home with another playful pup to romp around with. He's also been enjoying trips to the Skiptown dog park, where he's gaining confidence and making friends of all sizes. Watching him blossom into a happy, carefree dog has been a joy.
When playtime is over, Marshy is ready to settle down and soak up all the love. He enjoys relaxing near his people, sleeping soundly through the night on his dog bed (or yours, if you'll allow it!), and spending quality time with his family. He is housetrained, enjoys being brushed and groomed, and loves nothing more than being wherever his humans are. If you're looking for a loyal shadow and expert cuddle buddy, Marshy is your guy.

- Submit an ApplicationComplete our adoption application after reviewing the Adoption Requirements and FAQs. Please answer every question completely, as incomplete applications cannot be processed. You're welcome to indicate interest in a specific dog, but because our commitment is to the right match, requesting a particular dog does not guarantee placement.
- Phone Interview & Home VisitAfter your application is reviewed, a GRFR volunteer will contact you if you meet our adoption requirements. A phone interview to learn more about your family, home, lifestyle, and expectations, then a home visit to ensure your home is a safe environment for a dog. ALL household members and resident dogs/pets MUST be present during the home visit.
- Meet Your MatchWhen one of our foster volunteers believes a dog may be a good fit for your family, they'll contact you to arrange a meet-and-greet. If you receive a voicemail or text message from a foster, you must respond within 24 hours. If you do not respond the foster home will move on to the next approved applicant.
