Volunteer
Golden Retriever Freedom Rescue is a 100% volunteer-run organization, and our lifesaving work is only possible because of the incredible people who generously donate their time and talents. Whether you have a few hours a month or want to take on a larger role, there's a place for you on our team!
How You Can Help
Foster a Dog
GRFR does not operate a physical shelter. Every dog that enters our rescue is welcomed into the home of one of our dedicated foster families.
Adoption Team
Behind every successful adoption is a team of dedicated volunteers working behind the scenes. Volunteers assist by:
- Reviewing adoption applications.
- Conducting phone interviews.
- Completing home visits.
- Helping match dogs with the families that best fit their needs.
Events & Fundraising
Throughout the year, GRFR participates in several community events. Volunteers help by staffing event booths, assisting with event setup and breakdown, coordinating volunteers, and sharing information about GRFR and our mission.
As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, fundraising is essential to our mission. Volunteers can also:
- Solicit donations for our annual online auction.
- Secure sponsorships or raffle items.
- Help plan fundraising campaigns and special events.
- Build relationships with businesses and community partners.
Transportation
Transportation volunteers are a vital part of our rescue network. They help:
- Transport dogs to and from veterinary appointments.
- Move dogs from shelters or surrender locations to foster homes.
- Coordinate and participate in transports that bring dogs from neighboring states to the safety of Colorado.
Whether you can drive across town or help coordinate longer transports, every mile makes a difference.
